Is Your Business Ready for Simpler Recycling? Key Steps Before March 2025

Prepare your business for Simpler Recycling by March 2025. Learn what the new waste rules mean, how to stay compliant, and book a waste audit with Breckland Council.

SIC Codes

Anyone who has a contract with Breckland Council for removal of waste from their premises will receive a Duty of Care, Waste Transfer Note. This is required under law and should be retained for a period of two years from its expiry date.

The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 require the inclusion of the 2007 Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code of the person transferring the waste on the waste transfer note.

Please ensure that you include the SIC code relevant to your business/organisation on your waste transfer note and return a copy of this to Breckland Council. As an example, a bank would use code 64191, whilst a holiday home rental would use code 55209.

A full list of codes is available on the Gov.uk website (opens new window)
